As a Controls Technician, you will contribute the team by conducting installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of building automation systems in the field. Some of the main responsibilities in this role are listed below.

  • Safely perform scheduled preventive maintenance routines
  • Complete commissioning and startup to ensure proper operation
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair wiring, hardware
  • Diagnose communication problems
  • Create, load, test, and tune system databases with the assistance of building automation programmer
  • Install, replace, and recommission control systems devices, equipment
  • Coordinate with general contractors, owners representatives and subcontractors
  • Create and maintain point to point verifications and as-built documentation on current project loads

Your experience in the following areas will drive your success in this role.

  • 5+ years of industry experience and/or servicing electronic, or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry
  • Knowledgeable in HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation and servicing techniques
  • Strong computer/software skillset including use of MS Excel/Word/Project
  • Knowledge of NEC standards, electrical codes, and basic wiring concepts
  • Previous Schneider Electric (Andover) experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Work requires exposure to construction site environments having temperature extremes, dust, fumes, smoke, hazardous substances, and loud noise levels. Up to 70% of the job may include heavy physical work, heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of material that may weigh from 50 to 100 pounds. The position requires the incumbent to climb and work from ladders, scaffolds or aerial lifts, stand or walk for long periods, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours at a time.

The position requires the unrestricted use of hands, arms, shoulders and the upper and lower back as well as visual acuity and depth perception. Pulmonary capacity must be sufficient to permit the use of an air-purifying respirator if required.
