Amazon Senior Manager, Planning, Amazon Flex in Tokyo, Japan

Description

Since Day 1, Amazon has focused on providing new and innovative technologies to solve challenges in the last mile delivery space. Last Mile team ensures the most customer-centric experience possible, from the time a customer places an order with Amazon to the time the package reaches the customer. Amazon Flex is an integral part of this world class last mile operation. Amazon Flex works directly with independent contractors – called delivery partners – to make deliveries to our customers. With Amazon Flex, individuals can now be their own boss delivering Amazon packages.

Amazon Flex is powered by a mobile app that works in concert with our advanced logistics systems that allows delivery partners to on board, schedule delivery times, guide them through their deliveries with in-app mapping and navigation, and more. The approach and technology are nothing short of disruptive, and promise to challenge traditional approaches, and change the way the industry operates.

The AmFlex JP team is looking for an analytical, results-oriented leader to lead the Planning function. In this role, you will be responsible for Delivery Partner (DP) business planning, DP scheduling, acceptance and fill, forecasting, and expansion into new regions and launch of new sites across the JP AMZL (Amazon Logistics) and Grocery programs. This is a highly visible role that requires partnering with a cross-disciplinary team of program managers, ops managers, marketing managers, data scientists, engineers, product managers, finance partners and executives across the AmFlex, AMZL, transportation and Grocery businesses.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, passionate, highly analytical and detail-oriented, possess superior inter personal and communication skills, and be comfortable working independently to drive growth and change in a fast-paced environment. An extreme bias for action and dive deep is an absolute must, and candidates must demonstrate a superior track record of delivering results. You must have sound business judgment and the ability to think strategically with a long-term vision about this fast-growing space, while being able to execute on tactical details.

This role requires a high level of writing, judgement, influence, and ownership. You will lead with data to persuade others, own and develop strategic partnerships with internal and external customers. This means, you must be an excellent communicator and write engaging narratives and present them effectively. You will be required to routinely build from the ground up and deliver the right things with limited guidance.

The right candidate will have experience developing both products and programs from scratch and be comfortable with stepping into uncharted territory. You will have experience working in a global, matrixed organization and with cross-functional teams. Furthermore, you will have a proven track record of coordinating multiple initiatives at once, managing trade-offs across competing priorities, and delivering results. An extreme bias for action and dive deep is an absolute must, and candidates must demonstrate a superior track record of delivering results.
