    As a member of the Rehabilitative Services team, the Technician will assist the Rehabilitation providers with patient care tasks including equipment adjustments and orders, casting and maintenance of the environment of care. This role will include support to the front office schedulers. The Technician will join a strong transdisciplinary team of Physical, Speech, and Occupational Therapists, Audiologists and Nutritionists; who serve a diverse patient population consisting primarily of children with complex medical needs including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, autism spectrum disorder, neurogenic, sensory impairment and pediatric orthopedic conditions.

    Applicants must have a High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum of one-year experience in a healthcare setting; experience with pediatric population and casting a plus. Must be able to meet physical demands and frequently/occasionally lift, push, pull, and position up to 75 pounds. Proficiency with MS Office Suite strongly preferred. Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Current BLS certification required.

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting providers in the Rehabilitation Department with patient care tasks. Maintains the environment of care and assists in management of Rehab Department paperwork as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist with registering of new patients and request insurance prior authorization if applicable.

Scheduling of patient appointments.

Assist with administrative tasks such as patient phone calls, faxes, emails, or as needed.

Maintain recall lists for patients to ensure access to care.

Serve as assistant and therapy aide during rehab visits per clinician request and skill set.

Create patient therapeutic materials for onsite therapies or home sessions, per clinician recommendations.

Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sustain supply inventory of treatment rooms.

Perform minor in-office repairs to equipment or assistive devices.

Prepare, charge, clean, and maintain equipment before appointments as needed.

Order therapy supplies, monitor and maintain inventory, submit invoices for supplies ordered.

Processing broken assistive devices or equipment and send items for repair; completing claims for lost or damaged devices; processing return for credits

Rehab Tech supporting Audiology will act as Cochlear Implant Coordinator; including but not limited to serving as point of contact for ENT offices to coordinate scheduling, surgeries, and other related tasks as assigned.

Maintain equipment, including weekly checks and documentation.

May plan, produce and correct menus based on established guidelines when supporting the Registered Dietitians.

Obtains height, weight and head circumference measurements as appropriate for specific medical clinic. Calculates and documents BMI.

Documents relevant aspects of nutritional care for patients in accordance with departmental standards.

Assumes responsibility for maintaining clean and safe environment of care in the Rehab Department, including, but not limited to Audiology booths, Feeding Room and Cast Room, according to established policies and procedures.

Assumes primary responsibility for organization, inventory, and maintenance of department storage areas.

Cleans and organizes toys and equipment daily. Assists in the inventory of toys, track purchasing needs and organize.

Provides video and photography services, as assigned by therapists, during patient assessments and treatments.

Serves as secondary assistant to a variety of providers.

Assists therapists in preparation for therapy appointments by transporting necessary equipment to treatment room as directed.

Assists in the tracking of received equipment/process delivery receipts for scheduling; tracks and supports other orders/ordering processes including orthotic orders by maintaining detailed and accurate tracking sheets/schedule follow-up fitting appointment if necessary.

Performs basic adjustments, modifications and repairs to mechanical therapy equipment, ambulation aids and adaptive equipment.

Track surgery dates, fill out post-op Wheel Chair forms, post-op equipment needs & post-op referrals as needed.

Performs other duties as required and assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of primary agencies serving speech, language, and hearing-impaired children in southeastern Arizona.

Ability to provide support services to clinical providers during the examination, treatment, social and/or vocational development of the pediatric patient.

Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.

Ability to operate personal computer and related office equipment as needed to perform job function.

Knowledge of basic trouble-shooting techniques for patient equipment.

Skill in performing car seat evaluation/fitting and installation (CPS certified) if applicable.

Skill in the removal and applications of casts if applicable.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with patients, their families, clinic staff and community members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required

Successful completion of upper level diet and nutrition course and/or completion of Dietetic Tech Registration program if supporting Registered Dietitians.

Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology, Audiology, or related field preferred if supporting Speech/Audiology team.

Experience :

At least one year in related field and/ or experience in a healthcare environment preferred. Bilingual a plus.

BLS certification required

FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE

Employees are required to maintain a current Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card. Proof of a current fingerprint clearance card must be received within 90 days of employment.
