USG Corporation Technical Manager (Gypsum Solutions) in United States


Gypsum Solutions Technical Manager for Performance Flooring will build awareness of USG Industrial & Flooring products and support customers and sales activities. Ideal candidate will focus on relationship building, and communicate to multiple levels using a variety of mediums. Candidate will present informative content, solution-based selling, and product knowledge. Manufacturing and construction process skills are required to be effective and successful in this role.

Ideal candidate will be based near plant operations that support Industrial and Flooring products. Suitable locations may be reviewed and approved by the hiring manager based on candidate skills, abilities and experiences.


Includes the following and performs additional responsibilities as assigned:

  • Act as the technical conduit to between manufacturing plants, CIC, sales and customers.
  • Demonstrate and present products and educate a varied audience.
  • Absorb, distill, and share technical subject matter related to Industrial and Flooring Products solutions and systems, with all key influencers.
  • Act as the technical sales expert and consultant to Industrial and Flooring products sales group.
  • Demonstrate and present products and educate a varied audience.
  • Support sales goals by working closely with sales teams including prioritizing identified targets within their region. Be a key conduit of communication internally to ensure identification of potential solutions.
  • Optimize internal communication with larger organization to ensure appropriate information is shared effectively and to gain awareness of large opportunities.
  • Manage the execution of account business plans and is the primary owner of the account management process.
  • Serve as a business advisor to customers.
  • Technical expert on product performance characteristics related to aging and customer preferred attributes.



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field experience.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel time up to and over 25% servicing respective market and within the assigned region.


  • Familiar with complex mill process and gypsum crystal formation.
  • Minimum of 2 years of plant operations experience.
  • 5 years of collective manufacturing experience preferred.
  • knowledgeable in building products and process.
  • Knowledgeable in gypsum-based product solutions.
  • Experience with plant gypsum mill operations preferred.

  • Strong business acumen and professionalism.
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills, including: negotiating, presentation, professional selling, conflict resolution and relationship building.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on working to and exceeding targets.
  • Effective and independent time and scheduling management of activities.
  • Ability to set and self-manage priorities to ensure maximizing of account development maximization for both existing and new accounts.
  • Proven ability to identify key decision makers and build relationships.
  • Agile and experienced networker.
