PCSI Pipefitter in Warren, Michigan

This position will report to the Mechanical Supervisor and is based at the Detroit Arsenal in Warren MI. Typical work hours will be Monday thru Friday 7:30 to 4:00. With occasional work on weekends and alternating shifts based on maintenance scheduling needs. The position is also on a rotating paid on-call rotation. This position includes snow removal duties during the winter.

Industrial and Commercial plumbing experience preferred.

General Information:

Rate of pay:

$46.45 per hour, plus $5.95 for health and welfare, Shift Premium (union position)

Vacation/Sick Leave: 80 hours of vacation annually beginning the first anniversary of employment. 56 hours of accrued sick leave annually.

What You'll Do as a Pipefitter:

  • Inspecting and repairing pipes running to related equipment, such as radiators and HVAC units.
  • Make recommendations about necessary repairs or changes to plumbing systems.
  • Providing estimates on the cost of parts and labor.

``` - Installing and repairing plumbing, fabricating piping and materials, assembling systems and equipment ensuring they are running effectively and without leaks to include heating and cooling piping. - Install, modify, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair industrial or domestic high-temperature water and high-pressure piping systems and equipment without normal supervision. - Measuring, cutting, and threading pipe to the necessary specifications. - Assembling and installing valves, fittings, on various piping systems. - Installing and maintaining pumps, compressors, and other mechanical equipment related to piping systems.

``` - Communicating with other tradespeople and supervisors to coordinate work and ensure a timely and successful project completion.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • Requires High School Diploma or GED.
  • State of Michigan licensed Journeyman Pipefitter.
  • Minimum of (10) years recent/relevant experience as a Maintenance Pipefitter with a working knowledge of all national, state and local codes.
  • Industrial and/or Commercial plumbing experience preferred.
  • ASSE Backflow Preventer Certificate desirable.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Regularly required to stand, walk, and climb ladders. Frequently required to kneel, squat, bend, and reach.

Operate forklifts & manlifts, rig, hoist/lift & move materials.

Knowledge of all maintenance trades in a facility maintenance environment
