CH2MHill BWXT West Valley, LLC ( CHBWV ) Industrial Safety Manager in West Valley, New York

CHBWV is seeking a qualified candidate for Industrial Safety Manager who is responsible for maintaining a safe and healthful environment by identifying and anticipating concerns and hazards, developing and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures and managing, monitoring, analyzing, evaluating, and reporting safety and health experience/performance at the CHBWV project and coordinating all corrective actions resulting from reviews. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A. Education/Experience: BA/BS in Industrial Hygiene or related technical field or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience with a minimum of four (4) years in a nuclear environment Minimum of three (3) years management/supervision experience B. Licenses/Certifications: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Safety Professional (CSP) preferred C. Other Requirements: Knowledge of DOE directives relating to health and safety, DOE (10 CFR 851), and OSHA Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent organizational skills Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Excellent analytical skills Personal Protective Clothing

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Resolve employees safety concerns requiring use of a blend of technology and psychology since risk tolerances tend to vary. 2. Discern if a safety concern is or is not caused by a regulatory violation, and if so, prepare a cost benefit analysis to determine if the concern should be addressed by physical action. 3. Take independent action and problem solve to resolve real and perceived health and safety needs to CHBWV employees. 4. Investigate accidents to meet regulatory requirements and prevent recurrence through an investigation process which frequently requires integration between multiple departments. 5. Communicate exposures, their effect on an individual and corrective action taken to prevent recurrence with tact and diplomacy to ensure a non-threatening atmosphere. 6. Implement case management solutions which will get employees back to work as soon as possible after an injury has occurred effectively including coordination among parties involved to come to a mutually agreeable resolution of an employee's disability. 7. Coordinate and evaluate work activities that the recovering employee is capable of safely accomplishing, sometimes through creative means. 8. Provide continual monitoring of the employee's work activities to ensure the employee will not compromise his/her recovery. 9. Possess proficiency in generating trust and respect through open communication and demonstrate mature judgment and tact under stress. 10. Interpret and follow a wide variety of guidelines, policies, laws, and established practices to accomplish complex tasks. 11. Plan, develop, and implement strategic short-and-long term programs essential to the mission. 12. Produce, edit, and present technically accurate documents, reports, and forms. 13. Interface directly with represented personnel and union leadership on a frequent basis and engage with all personnel on the topic of safety. 14. Interface with individuals or groups from inside and outside the organization, company and senior management and give frequent presentations and impromptu briefings on safety in a wide variety of environments and circumstances.
